  • Boozhoo! My name is John Patrick and Gizhibaa-Aanakwad is my Anishinaabemowin name. I have most recently completed a Master of Arts in Social Innovation and Sustainability Leadership (SISL). This background is in the mechanics of social innovation with a special emphasis on ethical leadership to make a positive impact on our communities. We encompassed areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, regeneration, restoration, systems thinking, mental models, prototyping, leveraging, and more. I can use these skills to support the evolution of an interested organization wanting to meet the needs of the community with emerging opportunities with strategies to sustain such a practice. My undergraduate studies are a double major in Native American Studies, and Outdoor Education, with an emphasis on Civil Liberties. The NAS focused specifically the study of cultural practices of past and living Indigenous North American Tribes. The Outdoor Education portion focused on outdoor experiential education settings. Finally, I focused my directed studies with a Civil Liberties emphasis to focus on treaty, sovereign and human rights reserved to the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas.

  • I agree with the vision and mission of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University. I am surrounded by and work with like-minded individuals who want the same for Anishinaabe communities supporting the advancing language, culture, and history of the Ojibwe.

  • Cultural seasonal activities and living a ceremonial life of the Ojibwe while raising my family is at the forefront of my life. I love the outdoors in all seasons and socializing with those that inspire me. I also have an interest in emerging and disruptive innovation and technologies. My nephews are planning to help me build a new PC which I'm excited for.
